CHSNA is a national Catholic homeschool organization whose purpose is to represent homeschoolers' interests with diocesan officials and church and/or church-related organizations such as the NCEA, collaborate with other national homeschool groups to assure that concerns and interests of Catholics are represented, and to maintain contacts with Church officials both in America and in Rome. Join with leaders from across the nation at the annual Round Table of Catholic Home School Leaders and present to them the concerns you have shared with us.
This is a secular group for parents homeschooling only children or homeschooling only one of their children. This is a safe space to share the joys and wonders and trials and tribulations of homeschooling only one child. This group welcomes all homeschoolers of single children regardless of method of schooling used, race, religion or lifestyle.
The Moore Foundation works hand-in-hand with homeschooling parents providing individualized curriculum, educational materials, and unit studies for homeschool along with aid in learning disabilities, and gifted education. Dr. Raymond and Dororthy Moore were homeschooling pioneers who contributed to the body of research on homeschooling in the late 1960s and early '70s. Their philosophy emphasizes that children,e specially boys, need individualized attention, using a no-stress approach. High success comes when close individual attention is paid to the needs of the student, following their interests, and allowing them to mature at their own rate.
Over two thousand years ago, Socrates told us that if someone started charging money for teaching the youth things that are well known to virtually every adult in the society, it would be fraud. Today, that fraud is well established in our country. Schooling has been taken over and adulterated by government for political purposes and enforced by laws of compulsion. It has been corrupted by teacher unions that keep well educated people out of the public schools by requiring the teachers to be not only "certified" but union members. Those requirements guarantee that only mediocre caliber people will work in the government-run schools.
One of the key terms in American higher education today is seamlessness—the ability of students to move into and through the postsecondary system with a minimal amount of disruption. At the same time, the number of paths into that system are increasing, and some of the less-traveled paths are growing in popularity, especially homeschooling. The convergence of these phenomena provides tremendous opportunities for innovation and reform, but also significant potential for conflict. Nowhere is this clearer than in the area of admissions policy for applicants from non-public, non-traditional schools. As a growing number of students and their families choose alternative secondary school settings, college and university administrators—as well as policymakers and courts—are facing difficult questions about the degree to which higher education institutions are prepared to account for these students in their admissions processes.
